Our dogs are part of our family for most households in the country.  The better your furry pet eats, the longer he will live and the healthier he will be which in turn, will cost you less at the veterinarian.  Iams Natural Dog Food claims to be healthy for your pet but is it really?

Mike Sagman at DogFoodAdvisor.com does not think so.  Here is what he says about the first couple of ingredients in Iams Natural Dog Food:

“The first item in this dog food lists chicken. Although it is a quality item, raw chicken contains about 80% water. After cooking, most of that moisture is lost, reducing the meat content to just a fraction of its original weight.

After processing, this item would probably account for a smaller part of the total content of the finished product.

The second ingredient is chicken by-product meal, a dry rendered product of slaughterhouse waste. It’s made from what’s left of a slaughtered chicken after all the prime cuts have been removed.

In a nutshell, chicken by-products are those unsavory leftovers usually considered “unfit for human consumption.”

Overall, this brand of dog food is not recommended as a healthy alternative to regular dog food.  This review isn’t unintended to suggest you feed your dog a certain dog food but to inform you of the different brands on the market that claim to be healthy when in reality, they are not.
